New Zealand National Cricket Team former captain Kane Williamson will not take the field during India's chase in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final after suffering a quad strain while batting in the first innings at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

What Happened to Kane Williamson?
Williamson had a forgettable outing with the bat, managing just 11 runs off 14 balls before falling to Kuldeep Yadav in the 13th over. The former Kiwi skipper tried to chip a full delivery around off-stump but mistimed it straight back to Kuldeep, who took an easy return catch.
The injury update came soon after the second innings began with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) confirming that Mark Chapman had replaced Williamson in the field.
Official Statement from NZC
📢 "Kane Williamson will not field in the second innings of the final after picking up a quad strain while batting. Mark Chapman has taken his place in the field."
At the time of writing, India are 65-0 while chasing New Zealand's target of 252. Skipper Rohit Sharma has already smashed a brilliant fifty putting the Men in Blue in a strong position.
