Bangladesh is a team now who has made a habit of winning matches regularly and is one of the top team in the world right now when it comes to the ODI format. They win, they shake hands with team-mates, they celebrate normally. This is the scenario when Bangladesh wins a match now. But this team passed a time when they used to play only to reduce the margin of the defeat. Losses after losses, heartbreaks after heartbreaks, this team faced it all and because of this on that time, when they used to win a match all of a sudden, their joy and celebrations had no limits. The whole country used to celebrate all night. On this day 13 years ago, the Tigers and their fans passed a same night like this after the team won their first ever ODI at home against India in the 2nd ODI of the three match series. After a heartbreaking first ODI against India in which they lost just by 11 runs, they turned it around this time in the 2nd ODI. The Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers didn't start off well and they were in all sorts of trouble as the top order failed and they were at 88-5 at one stage. But it was Aftab Ahmed who stood on top and played an outstanding knock of 67 from 98 balls which kept Bangladesh alive in the game. Some things never change and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has proved this thing all over the years in International cricket. From 2004 to now, his ability of changing the game and playing amazing cameo knocks never changed. When Bangladesh needed to blast in the death overs, Mashrafe delivered right on cue. His unbeaten 31 from 39 balls took Bangladesh to a fighting total of 229 runs. In the start of the Indian's innings, Mashrafe delivered with the ball too right from the word go. He knocked out Virender Sehwag's stumps in the first over. India lost 3 wickets with less than 60 runs on the board and Bangladesh were looking in a comfortable position until Sriram smacked his maiden ODI fifty. As much as everyone was not expecting the win, the fielding effort from the Bangladesh team was completely unexpected too. When things were looking complicated, the amazing catches and the run-outs from the fielders made it a comfortably victory for the team in the end. When the match was in a tight situation, Rajin Saleh sent back set batsman Mohammad Kaif for 49 after an amazing throw and when the victory was looking in sight, India's Joginder Sharma played the role of Mashrafe. His unbeaten 29 from 34 balls was looking dangerous but then again a superb throw from Aftab ran out Murali Karthik and the men in green achieved a historical win over India by 15 runs at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. The man of the match was none other than Mashrafe for his all-round performance.
