All-rounder Chinelle Henry has returned to the 16-man West Indies Women's provisional squad for the first two ODIs of their three-game series against Ireland, to be played at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground on 26 and 28 June.

The West Indies women's squad recently received a major boost when 27-year-old middle-order batswoman Chinelle Henry returned to the side after being called up to the provisional squad for the first two ODIs against Ireland. It is worth noting that the women of the West Indies and Ireland will compete in a multi-format white ball series due to start on Monday 26 June.

Henry has fully recovered from an injury that ruled her out of the running for selection in the recent Super50 Cup and T20 Blaze. There were also several names making their national team debuts, including Ashmini Munisar and wicketkeeper Shunelle Sawh.

Hayley Matthews will continue to captain the team, with Shemaine Campbelle as vice-captain. The official squad of 13 players is announced before each game.

"The ODI series against Ireland gives batsmen a good opportunity to focus, stay in the goal area longer and build an inning," said Ann Browne-John, CWI's lead selector for women's cricket. “Some of the younger players would go from the shorter format to the 50-over format. They definitely have the potential and it's important that the policy of identifying young players and developing the talent pool continues."

The ODI series is part of the Women's Championship, with the West Indies and Ireland bringing up the rear. Both teams have played six games each so far; The West Indies have pulled off a win while Ireland are yet to open their account.

"The team is showing great shot balance coupled with a variety of bowling styles, which has been lacking in recent years," Browne-John said. "Winning here will bring valuable points as the team attempts to climb the rankings and qualify for the World Championship."
