Bangladesh faced defeat in their second match of the World Cup. Bangladesh, who started the World Cup by defeating Afghanistan, stumbled in the match against England. The Tigers lost against the defending champions by a huge margin of 137 runs.

The Tigers seemed very disorganized in the match. The bowlers gave away runs with casual bowling. On the other hand, they lost one wicket after another in batting. All in all, the Tigers lost the match badly. Pacer Taskin Ahmed also expressed his disappointment after the match. He said that the situation could have been different if the English were restricted to fewer runs.

Talking to the media after the match, Taskin said, “Actually, losing a match does not highlight any good performance. In the last 10 overs (our bowling) got better. If we could have kept it below 300 then something else could have happened.”

He added, “Most of the wickets in India are going to be batting-friendly. Our batters have to be ready to chase 300-plus totals but we, as bowlers, also have to think about keeping the opposition down to below 300. It will happen sometimes but we have to be prepared for both scenarios.”

Taskin sees room for improvement in his bowling, “We have to be more accurate. Different batters have different types of weaknesses - we have to make them play more good balls. Sometimes we will concede runs but we have to bowl more good balls. We have to execute these plans accordingly. We will do well if we can bowl out oppositions for low totals.

"We didn't bowl according to the expectations, although we were playing in mostly batting-friendly conditions. There was enough room for us to do well. We started badly, but Shoriful and Mahedi came back well.”

Bangladesh played 2 matches in the World Cup, won 1 and lost 1. In the next match, the Tigers will play against New Zealand on October 13.
