After that, Taskin Ahmed gave the catch to the wicket-keeper and Nasum Ahmed gave the catch to Fareed Ahmad who was at third man. Karim Janat gave Afghanistan a hope of victory with a hat-trick. But with a four in the next ball, Shoriful ensured victory for Bangladesh.
“We had the belief, all our tailenders can bat. It was Shoriful's turn today but Miraz could have finished it. That's funny but makes it more exciting for the crowd and that's how T20 goes,” Shakib said at the post-match award ceremony.
Bangladesh and Afghanistan will meet in the second T20 match of the series on July 16.
