They managed to take only two wickets and Sri lanka is now only 9 runs away from taking the leading with 7 wickets still in their hand. The technical director Khaled Mahmud Sujon believes that the team couldn't really attack and defend from both ends.
After the end of today's play, Sujon said in the press conference: "Partnership bowling is important in Test matches so I'd say that we didn't do it that well. We couldn't really attack and defend from both ends. The wicket is good for batting but I thought we could have bowled better."
About missed chances: "It would have been better if we took those chances. The catch went through them in the slips, it would have been easier had it gone to hand. We missed a run-out chance. We could have fielded better, caught better."
He added: "We have certainly worked on slip catching during the training camp. We only have two slip fielders in our setup but they work hard. We tried Sunzamul at third slip or gully. It is important to have specialist fielders in Tests which every team has. But we should definitely work more on them."
Why Sunjamul over experienced Razzak? Sujon said: "It was nothing special. He wasn't in our setup for a long time but there's no reason to doubt his experience. I think there was more confidence in Sunzamul because he was in the setup, he was training with the national team."
Sujon concluded: "Maybe we thought that Sunzamul would be better in these conditions. Razzak was in our plan; he wasn't just brought all of a sudden. But we needed to give him time, which may make it easier for him."
