The tension on Day 5 of the ongoing Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) reached new heights after Yashasvi Jaiswal found himself in a heated confrontation with Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. The incident, which unfolded on December 10, revolved around a superstitious bail-switching tactic by Starc that Jaiswal wasn’t having any part of.

As India resumed their innings at 33/3 post-lunch, Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant began to steady the ship in the second session. Desperate for a breakthrough, Starc decided to switch the bails at the non-striker's end, hoping it would bring him some much-needed luck. However, Jaiswal, seemingly unamused by Starc’s superstition, walked over and reversed the bail switch, placing them back in their original position.

What followed was an intense moment between the two cricketers. As Starc marked his run-up, words were exchanged between the Australian and the Indian opener. Starc asked Jaiswal, “Then why change it back if you are not superstitious?” To which Jaiswal confidently replied, “I believe in myself, that is why I am here.” Not backing down, Starc shot back, only for Jaiswal to have the final word, saying, “I am just enjoying this moment in my life.”
