India National Cricket Team batter Sarfaraz Khan found himself at the center of an amusing yet painful moment on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test against New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Known for his high-energy presence on the field, Sarfaraz unintentionally became the butt of jokes after being struck in his private parts while fielding at short leg.
The incident occurred during the 79th over of New Zealand’s innings when Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling to Mitchell Santner. As Santner played a drive, the ball took an awkward bounce and struck Sarfaraz Khan directly in his box. The painful blow saw wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma giving Sarfaraz a pat on the back, sharing a laugh at his teammate’s misfortune.
Adding to the light-hearted atmosphere, commentators Dinesh Karthik and Ravi Shastri quickly chimed in with their own take on the incident. "Sarfaraz won’t like where the ball hit him," Karthik remarked, expressing empathy for the player.
Shastri, known for his humorous and unfiltered commentary, couldn’t resist adding, “He’s a daddy now, so it’s fine,” referencing Sarfaraz’s recent fatherhood after the first Test. The joke sent Karthik into a fit of laughter, turning the painful moment into one of levity.
