Mitchell Starc provided a dream start for Australia on Day 3 of the third Test against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Gabba, Brisbane. The left-arm pacer dismissed India's opener Yashasvi Jaiswal on the second ball of the innings after being hit for a boundary on the first delivery. This marked the third time Jaiswal has been dismissed in the first innings of the series, adding to the pressure on India's top order.

Jaiswal, who had already been dismissed by Starc twice in the first over during this series, was once again undone by the pacer's clever bowling. After hitting the first ball for four, Jaiswal fell prey to Starc's sharp execution. On the second ball, Starc bowled a delivery down the leg side, tempting the young Indian opener to flick it. However, Mitchell Marsh, strategically placed by Australian captain Pat Cummins, was perfectly positioned at forward square leg to take an easy catch, leaving India at 4/1 and stunned early in their innings.

Jaiswal has struggled in the first innings of this series, recording scores of 0, 0, and now 4. Despite a brilliant 161 in the second innings of the first Test in Perth, his inconsistency in the opening overs has left India vulnerable. His first-innings woes continued as Mitchell Starc picked up his 12th wicket of the series, further cementing his influence in the ongoing series.
