Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is winning hearts with a wholesome gesture following a Major League Cricket (MLC) match. Maxwell, who led the Washington Freedom to an impressive eight-wicket victory over the LA Knight Riders, showcased not just his cricketing skills but also his generosity.

Maxwell's match winning performance with the ball saw him claim 3/15 in his four-over spell at Church Street Park in Morrisville. His efforts restricted the Knight Riders to a modest 129 runs. Chasing the target, Freedom openers from Australia Travis Head and Steve Smith secured a comfortable victory with unbeaten scores of 54 and 42, respectively.

A viral clip circulating on social media captured Maxwell’s touching moment with a young fan. After the game, Maxwell was seen giving a big box, which was his Player of the Match award, to the fan. This heartwarming act was shared by Washington Freedom on their official X handle, with the caption: “The winner of the hearts award goes to Glenn Maxwell, who graciously gave his POTM award to his fan.”

In the post-match presentation ceremony, Maxwell shared his view on the game, saying, "We’re fortunate with the conditions and Saurabh picking wickets at the top. It was nice to get some help from the wicket. There was a little bit of spin, a little bit of inconsistency. It was a good day and nice to go at the top as well. I’m absolutely loving not having to bat; great to give my body a bit of rest. Smudge (Steve Smith) is doing a great job as a leader and opener, very fortunate to have him.”
