The dismissal occurred in the 48th over of India's first innings, marking Sarfaraz's third duck in international cricket, contributing to India's batting collapse.

Ajaz Patel bowled a well-pitched delivery that turned and bounced sharply, leaving Sarfaraz in trouble as he attempted a forward defensive shot. The ball caught the edge of Sarfaraz's glove and was safely pouched by wicketkeeper Tom Blundell. The umpire quickly raised his finger, sending Sarfaraz back to the pavilion without scoring a run.
