Legendary Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has praised India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for his incredible comeback to Test cricket. Pant returned to the longest format for the first time since December 2022 and made an immediate impact with a match-winning century in the 1st Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, helping India secure a massive 280-run victory.

Pant's return came after a long hiatus of over 600 days, and he marked the occasion with an impressive 109 off 128 balls at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. His innings, which included 13 boundaries and 4 sixes, also saw him equal MS Dhoni's record of six Test centuries—making him one of India's most prolific wicketkeeper-batsmen.

Wasim Akram, a former Pakistan captain and fast-bowling legend, heaped praise on Pant's resilience and determination after his unfortunate car accident. Akram said, "Look at Pant’s performance, the miracle that he has performed by showing he is superhuman by returning from his tragedy. The way his accident happened, we were all worried in Pakistan, I was worried and tweeted about him. He came back and averaged 40 in the IPL, 446 runs at a strike rate of 155, he’s a miracle kid."

Akram highlighted Pant’s fearless approach in Test cricket, recalling some of his most iconic moments against world-class bowlers like James Anderson and Pat Cummins. "Especially what he has been through in that horrific accident, coming back from that, how mentally strong must that boy be? The way he used to play in Test cricket, the way he performed in Australia with the century then (in 2018/19). The way he batted against England, playing a reverse-sweep against Anderson in Test cricket, even Cummins. He’s special," Akram added.
