VVS Laxman named as India men's team coach in Asian Games

Former India cricketer VVS Laxman will travel as the chief coach for India's men's team. They will have Sairaj Bahutule as their bowling coach and Munish Bali as their fielding instructor.
Laxman, who is the director of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, has previously filled in as chief coach on men's tours when Rahul Dravid was excused - as was the case most recently for the T20I series in Ireland. The India men's squad at the Asian Games will be a second-string unit commanded by Ruturaj Gaikwad, as the primary squad is preparing for the October 5 start of the World Cup.
Besides the men's team, the BCCI has also announced the name of the coach of the women's cricket team. Former all-rounder Hrishikesh Kanitkar has been appointed as the head coach of the women's team. Rajib Dutta will be the bowling coach and Subhadeep Ghosh will be the fielding instructor for the women's team.
The Asian Games will be held in China in September. The Indian women's team will start the tournament with the Asian Games women's cricket quarter-finals on September 21. The Indian men's team will also play directly in the quarter-finals. The men's cricket quarter-finals will be held in October.
