Sri Lanka replied Ireland with the best way possible. It was turning out to be a very good day for the Lankan batters. They made toil hard for the Irish bowlers and gave away only a sole wicket that of skipper Dimuth Karunaratne's one. No wicket has fallen since then. And the runs were coming at a brisk rate, Sri Lanka were all over Ireland before the heaven opened with rain.

Sri Lankan openers recorded 228 run partnership in Galle with both the openers notching up their respective centuries. Captain Karunaratne brought up his 16th ton, while his partner Nishan Madhushanaka notched up his maiden century in Test Cricket. Karunaratne played a glorious knock of 115 runs off only 133 balls. Smacked 15 boundaries and was striking at 86.47. He fell to Curtis Campher but took SL to the drivers seat.

After Karunaratne's departure, the 23 old opener Nishan Madhushanaka and Kusal Mendis took the rein. They together made 129 runs while bulk of the scoring has been from Kusal Mendis. He made unbeaten 83* off only 96 balls and smashed 7 boundaries and smoked 5 gigantic sixes. While his partner Nishan Madhushanaka is unbeaten on 149* from 234 balls.

Sri Lanka are now 357 after losing a single wicket of Karunaratne. And they'll be eyeing to score more 200 on the board before declaring it for Ireland. On the other hand, Ireland seemed to be indiscipline with the ball and got responses from Lankan batters as they lost only 1 wicket and scored at over 4.50 per over. Ireland need to regroup themself tomorrow to scalp some early wickets tomorrow.
