Australia thrashed England by 7 wickets on Thursday (September 19) at Trent Bridge. Travis Head's swashbuckling 154* off only 129 balls and Marnus Labuschagne's 77* off 61 deliveries helped Aussies chase down England's 315.
Travis Head smashed an unbeaten 154* to pummel England.
After choosing to bat first, England had a superb start. Courtesy Ben Duckett and Will Jacks and their incredible partnership. The duo added 120 runs from just 101 balls before Adam Zampa and Labuschagne removed both of them.
Harry Brook then got a start but couldn’t make it a big innings as he went back to the pavilion after scoring a brisk 39 off 31 balls. After the departure of Brook, England had a massive collapse in the middle losing some quick wickets to Australian spinners especially to Zampa, Labuschagne and Head.
England managed to get 315 on the board with Marnus Labuschagne came out as the top wicket-taker with 3 scalps, Zampa too had three wickets to his name.
In reply, Aussie captain Marsh fell cheaply but Travis Head and Steve Smith stitched a partnership before Liam Livingstone removed Smith. And then Green joined with Head and Green departed after 30's but it was Head who hold on there and scored a fantastic hundred.
Marnus Labuschagne came to the crease and scored a fine fifty and stitched a solid partnership with Head. Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 77*, while Head was unbeaten on 154* and steered Australia home.
