Towhid Hridoy’s ban reduced after mid-tournament rule change in DPL
The thing that got Hridoy in trouble happened during a fight between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited. As captain of Mohammedan, Hridoy got into a verbal fight with the referee during the game. He then said something rude to international umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat. He was given a BDT 80,000 fine, a two-match ban, and three demerit points, which added to the four he already had to make a total of seven.

In a strange turn of events, the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) changed its rules in the middle of the tournament, which meant that Towhid Hridoy was only suspended for one game instead of two. The move has caused a lot of debate, with claims of pressure from club leaders and questions about how open BCB is.
At that time, BCB's Code of Conduct made it clear that getting 4–7 penalty points would get you banned for two games, 8–11 points would get you banned for four games, and so on. However, The Daily Sun reported that Mohammedan put pressure on the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) to change this rule so that Hridoy could play against Agrani Bank.
The issue was brought to the attention of the BCB's umpires committee, according to reports. Some officials, like director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim and Chairman of the Media Committee Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu, were against the decision at first, but they are said to have given in to mounting pressure. Mithu spoke out a lot about what happened. He called Hridoy's actions a "top-level breach of conduct" and demanded the harshest penalty possible.
The technical committee, which was set up before the DPL and had Selim Shahed, Abdullah Al Noman, and Enamul Haque as its chair, was in charge of disciplining people. Hridoy asked this group to be lenient in his case. But Enamul Haque quit, saying he had a conflict of interest. Enamul told The Daily Sun, "I felt that my role in different things could cause a conflict, so I stepped down."
The Code of Conduct was quietly changed in the middle of the tourney soon after he quit. The new rules say that 4–7 penalty points now lead to a 1-match ban instead of 2, 8–11 points now lead to a 3-match ban instead of 4, 12–15 points now lead to a 5-match ban, and 16+ points now lead to a 7-match ban.
With the new rules in place, Hridoy's punishment was officially cut down to one match.
