Tim David, Romario Shepard out bat Delhi Capitals by 29 runs

Mumbai Indians opened up their account of this season of IPL by beating Delhi Capitals by on Sunday (7th April). Tim David and Romario Shepard's onslaught in the last four overs gave a massive fuel to Mumbai Indians innings, which propelled them to 234-5. But despite Tristan Stubbs and Prithvi Shaw's heroics, Delhi Capitals were 29 runs shy of the target.
David and Shepard blasted 86 off the last 4 overs to set a target of 235 for DC.
Being invited to bat first, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan came out with all the guns blazing to race their way to 75-0 in the first powerplay. Rohit made 49 off 27, while Kishan contributed with 42 off 23 balls. However DC pulled things back in the middle orders by picking up some quick wickets.
But Tim David and Romario Shepard ripped through DC in the backend of the innings. Tim David blasted a 45* off 21 balls, while Romario Shepard poundered 32 off Anrich Nortje's last over to propel to 234 after 20 overs.
In reply, David Warner fell earlier. But Prithvi Shaw utilised the powerplay to score a brilliant 66 off 40 balls. Abhishek Porel played the anchor role and scored 41 off 31 balls before Bumrah removed him. Pant, Axar, Lalit Yadav couldn't get going as DC had a mild collapse in the middle order. But Tristan Stubbs showed DC a ray of hope with his monstrous blows. Smacking MI bowlers everywhere of the park and smashed a swashbuckling 71* off 25 balls but for lack of support he couldn’t past over the line and was shy off 29 runs.
