Pakistan celebrated a long-awaited home Test series victory after defeating England 2-1 in a thrilling three-match contest. The triumph was particularly significant for captain Shan Masood, who had endured a challenging year since his appointment, losing six consecutive Test matches prior to this success.

In the final Test, Pakistan secured a comprehensive 9-wicket win, marking their first series win on home soil in three years. It also marked a turnaround for Masood, who had previously overseen heavy defeats, including a 3-0 whitewash by Australia and a surprising 2-0 loss to Bangladesh.

Shan Masood, reflecting on his team's hard-fought victory, expressed immense pride in his players' performances. The victory marked a personal milestone for Masood, as it was his first series win since becoming captain. He acknowledged the team’s resilience in bouncing back from earlier setbacks, and in particular, praised individual players for their outstanding contributions throughout the series.

Masood also humorously highlighted Jamal’s unique achievement of not bowling a single ball as a pacer during the Test :

"Jamal, he might have created a world record of a pacer to have not bowled a single ball in the Test, the biggest point of satisfaction was that we had a change in conditions, we ourselves hadn’t played on such challenging pitches before" he added.

"We played in the UAE, but the challenge wasn’t there on the first two days, like it was here. We have quality in our batting and bowling, the depth is there. I’ve always said that we need to take 20 wickets to win a Test and that’s what we achieved here,” said Shan Masood in the post-match presentation.

The Pakistani captain also acknowledged the responsibility that comes with leadership, expressing his excitement for the future with young talents like Saim and Hurraira stepping up.

“The job comes up with responsibility (on captaincy). It’s heartening to have young talents like Saim and Hurraira coming up, and seniors like Noman coming back into the set-up after a long time. We’ve had a lot of positives with the bat, Saud and Salman are growing as leaders"

"This series win is for the people of Pakistan who have suffered a lot with us, thankful for the English team, the contests between the two teams are always memorable and I wish we play more, possibly a 5-match series,” he said.
