Early Life

Born in 1983, Christian grew up in the town of Narrandera in the Riverina region of New South Wales and is of British, Irish Catholic and Australian Indigenous Wiradjuri ancestry. He lived in Narrandera until he finished primary school and then moved to Sydney to attend St Gregory's College, Campbelltown.

Cricket Career

Domestic Career

In 2003 Christian attended the Australian Cricket Academy.

Dan Christian had a fruitful time at the Australian Cricket Academy where he represented the club team and put in a good all-around performance. After a brilliant domestic season in 2006, Christian signed to represent the New South Wales national team and made his List A debut at the 2006-07 Australian One-Day Cup.

Dan Christian had a satisfactory debut season for New South Wales but his contract was not renewed for the 2007–08 season. Disappointed with the series of events, he decided to join the South Australian team ahead of the upcoming season. Christian currently represents the Victoria team in the Australian domestic circuit.

Big Bash League

Dan Christian made his Big Bash League debut for the Brisbane Heat in the 2011 season. Christian proved his valuable importance as an all-rounder in the Brisbane team. He was retained by the franchise through the 2015 season and prior to the 2016 auctions. Hobart Hurricanes picked the talented all-rounder in the auctions for $500,000.

Dan Christian had a suspension period for Hobart Hurricanes where he was and was not with the team due to injuries or other commitments. Hobart Hurricanes retained Christian through the 2018 season, after which he was selected by the Melbourne Renegades franchise. Christian currently plays for the Sydney Sixers franchise and is expected to play in the 2021-22 season starting next week.

English T-20 Blast

Dan Christian rose to prominence as a T-20 player after the 2010 T-20 World Championship. He signed a deal with English county club Hampshire to play in the national T-20 cup. He played for Hampshire through the 2013 season and was signed by the Gloucestershire Gladiators for the 2013 T-20 season. However, he refused to play a game against Australia.

This led to his release and was selected by Middlesex for the 2014 season. Nottinghamshire County Club was Christian's fourth franchise in England's T-20 blast and probably the longest and most successful. Christian's disappointing form kept him out of the IPL for a short time until he was picked by the 2017 runner-up Rising Pune Supergiants franchise under MS Dhoni. Dan Christian went unsold for a further three IPL auctions and was again selected by the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise for the 2021 season.

International Career

In 2009, Christian managed an Indigenous Australian cricket team that toured England. Christian scored his best bowling figures against Sri Lanka at the second ODI on 2 March 2012, which also included a hat-trick, but Australia failed to win the game despite their impressive performance.

On 8 August 2021, Christian scored 30 runs after an over-bowl by left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan in a 15-ball 39 goal against Bangladesh, becoming the first Australian to score five sixes in a single over scored a T20 international. Later that same month, Christian was named as one of three injury guards in Australia's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
