Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal expressed immense joy upon being recalled to the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, describing it as his "biggest achievement" recently.
In the spin department, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, and Chahal of the Rajasthan Royals were all named to India's 15-member squad for the ninth edition of the ICC T20 World Cup.
“We play IPL, domestic cricket to get into the Indian team and that is my biggest achievement,” Chahal said.
Chahal last represented India in a Twenty20 International in July 2023, during their tour of the West Indies and the United States. The senior leg-spinner is confident that his prior experience will prove beneficial during the World Cup.
"I think I played there (West Indies) last July, but when I was out of the Indian team. I played domestic T20s and cricket keeps going on," he added.
Chahal will make his debut in the T20 World Cup in June, after being overlooked in both the 2021 and 2022 tournaments. His sole participation in an ICC competition occurred during the 2019 ODI World Cup in England, where he amassed 12 wickets across eight contests.
Chahal recently became the first individual in IPL history to take 200 wickets. 13 wickets in 10 matches during the 2024 season demonstrate his outstanding form.
