Khaled Mahmud Sujon thinks that if the cricketers do not retire at the right time, then the formation of the team cannot be done properly. He gives the example of the cricket of his time.

It can be said that there is no retirement tradition in Bangladesh cricket. Very few cricketers have been lucky enough to officially retire from the field. Sujon said that they were able to retire from the field because they had a love for cricket even though they earned little money by playing cricket. The issue of Mahmudullah Riyad also came up.

“I realized that now my time is over or now the young cricketers should come in… How will the new faces come in if I don't quit? This is also a big thing. So it is left to the players to decide at what point he needs to quit. Yes, it is very difficult. I cried too! Because I left what I love,” Sujon said.

He added, “We were not as professional as Riyad and other current cricketers. At that time, we did not get so much money playing cricket. I got very little. But that was our love, not a profession. And I was able to leave because I had love."

Bangladeshi cricketers Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal announced their retirement from T20 on social media. Mahmudullah announced retirement from this format during a Test match. Sujon expressed anger as to why cricketers are not brave enough to take the right decision at the right time regarding their retirement. He cited the example of England pacer Stuart Broad who retired from cricket at the age of 37.

"I don't know why this generation doesn't want to quit or they don't have the courage to quit. But you have to leave it. Akram bhai (Akram Khan), Nannu bhai (Minhajul Abedin Nannu) were the best batters in Bangladesh - they also left the game. Bashar (Habibul Bashar Sumon), once called Mr. Fifty, also left. We always give many examples of other teams. Don’t you think Stuart Broad could prolong his career in England team? Of course, he could play more. So why did he leave? My point is, you have to know where to stop."

Tamim, Mushfiqur, Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza have contributed a lot to Bangladesh cricket. Everyone in the cricket board admits that. But out of these five, only three cricketers are left. While Tamim's future is uncertain due to injury, Shakib, Mushfiqur are still fit. However, Sujon says that if there is no new face, it will be a loss for the country's cricket.

“I have said before that experience is definitely important. But I will not be able to go towards organizing a team without new faces. Mashrafe, Shakib, Mushfiqur, Tamim, Riyad brought Bangladesh cricket to this place. We sincerely acknowledge their contribution. But they will not play forever. Mashrafe is not playing, Mushy (Mushfiqur) has left the T20 format. Tamim left a format. In this way, everyone will leave. Bangladesh cricket will stop if they leave, this is not the case at all,” Sujon concluded.
