Star Australian batter Steve Smith has expressed his readiness for the upcoming Test series against India, stating that he feels fully prepared and could even play a red-ball match "tomorrow." After a solid week of training, the 35-year-old shared his eagerness to face India in the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Smith, who scored match winning 44 runs off 46 balls during Australia’s victory against Pakistan in the first ODI at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, reflected on his recent form and preparation for Test cricket. His comments came during an interview with SEN Radio, where he highlighted his confidence going into the Test series

"I'm ready now. I could go out and play a Test match tomorrow," Smith stated. "I feel like I'm in a good place. I've had a really good week of training, came down here early and had a few hits. And I was just trying to get a few things right that I felt like I didn't quite have in sync. And it all just clicked."

He further added "My last week in preparation has been really good. I feel like I'm in a nice place and moving really well, I'm really balanced at the crease, and I feel like my bat's coming down a nice plane. So I was happy with the way about it tonight. It would be nice to have been out there a little bit longer.

Talking about his performance against men's in blue in test cricket Steve Smith boasts an impressive record with having amassed 2042 runs in 19 Test matches at an average of 65.87, including nine centuries. Despite his 313 runs in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar series, Smith couldn't prevent Australia from losing the series 1-2 on home soil. Now, with renewed determination, he is set to be a key figure in Australia's attempt to reclaim the trophy.
