Sri Lankan skipper Dhananjaya De Silva has jumped massive in the latest ICC men's Test batting rankings. He was rewarded for his twin centuries against Bangladesh in Sylhet in the first test match, where his side thumped the hosts by 328 runs to go up to 1-0 in the series.
Dhananjaya De Silva shot up a whopping 15 places to 14th overall following scores of 102 and 108, with improving to a best-ever figure of 695 rating points to be within just 40 rating points of breaking into the top 10 Test batters in the world.
Kamindu Mendis also contributed with his twin centuries during the first test against Bangladesh and he re-entered the rankings for Test batters in equal 64th place following an eye-catching performance in what was just his second Test appearance.
In the bowling rankings, Sri Lankan Kasun Rajitha has got improvement as his firing fifer decimated Bangladesh in the second innings of the first test. It helped Rajitha move up six places to 38th overall, while teammates Vishwa Fernando (up seven spots to 43rd) and Lahiru Kumara (up six rungs to equal 46th) also made some ground following impressive performances with the ball.
With the astounding performances, Sri Lanka are ahead of Bangladesh by 1-0 in the test series as the second test looms. The second test of the series is set to be commenced from 30th March from Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
