As like the Sylhet test, Sri Lanka have dominated the day 1 in Chattogram as well as they amassed 314 runs losing only 4 wickets. Shakib's inclusion didn’t change the fate of Bangladesh as Sri Lanka again have owned the Bangladeshi bowlers. 86 from Dimuth Karunaratne and 93 from Kusal Mendis have piled up 314 runs on day 1.

Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka had a solid way to commence the day. Courtesy the openers - Nishan Madhushka and Dimuth Karunaratne. Both of them have been fluent and put away the bad balls at regular basis. The opening stand added 96 runs to the tally before an unfortunate run out ended the elegant innings of Madushka on 57.

Kusal Mendis and Karunaratne strung a partnership. Karunaratne missed out on a ton as he dragged one back on after a fantastic 86 run knock. Bangladesh were bowling with their spinners but they were tad innocuous and didn’t bring any breakthroughs before Shakib removed Mendis on 93.

Angelo Mathews couldn’t make a big knock as he fell to debutant Hasan Mahmud. Sri Lanka are steering their ship relying on Dinesh Chandimal and their talismanic skipper Dhananjaya De Silva. Both of them held on the crease firmly and stitched an unbeaten partnership of 25 runs.

Sri Lanka are now 314-4, with Dhananjaya on the crease and experienced campaigner Chandimal also supporting his captain Sri Lanka will be eyeing to outbat Bangladesh tomorrow and post anything over 500. Bangladesh on the other hand, need to resolve things and their catching must be pin point perfect elsewise the domination from Sri Lanka will be prolonged.
