Sri Lanka A's cricket tour of Pakistan has been cut short due to ongoing political protests in Islamabad. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Tuesday that the final two matches of the 50-over series between Pakistan Shaheens and Sri Lanka A have been postponed. This decision was taken after consultations between the PCB and Sri Lanka Cricket, following rising political tensions in the country.

The two remaining matches, initially scheduled for Wednesday and Friday in Rawalpindi, have been postponed indefinitely. Pakistan Shaheens had already secured a commanding 108-run victory in the first match of the series held in Islamabad on Monday.

Political Protests Force Postponement

According to reports The political unrest stems from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) party, led by former Pakistan captain and Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently in jail. The PTI launched a protest march towards Islamabad on Sunday, leading to widespread clashes between protesters and law enforcement. With the escalating violence, the PCB decided that it was in the best interest of both teams to postpone the remaining matches.

The PCB and Sri Lanka Cricket have agreed to work together to finalize new dates for the postponed fixtures once the situation stabilizes.

As the political situation unfolds, it remains unclear when the two postponed matches will be played. However, both boards have expressed their commitment to completing the series at a later date when conditions allow.
