South Africa have blown away England by 7 wickets to book their place for the semifinal of ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Three each from Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder restricted England to a paltry 179 runs. In reply, fifties from Rassie Van der Dussen and Heinrich Klaasen steered South Africa home comfortably.
Opting to bat first, England had a worst way to start their innings, losing Phil Salt earlier on to Marco Jansen. And then wicketkeeper batter Jamie Smith too fell to the same bowler as Marco Jansen was running riot. Ben Duckett started off to a flier as he raced his way to 24 off just 21 deliveries before falling to Marco Jansen.
Joe Root and Harry Brook did the rebuild job, stitching 62-run stand before the departure of Brook. Wiaan Mulder then knocked over Joe Root after his 37 off 44 balls. Liam Livingstone too flopped utterly as England were unable to wage as England were all-out for a paltry 179 runs.
In reply, Jofra Archer knocked over Tristan Stubbs for a five-ball duck. Ryan Rickelton had a brisk start before Archer uprooting his stumps after his 27 off 25 balls. Rassie Van der Dussen and wicketkeeper batter Heinrich Klaasen stitched a fantastic 127 run stand off just 122 balls, helping South Africa get a massive victory to get the top position of Group B.
