New Zealand thumped Bangladesh by 7 wickets on Wednesday (20th December). Soumya Sarkar's career best 169 couldn’t decimate New Zealand as they comfortably chased down Bangladesh's given 292 target with 7 wickets in hands and 4 overs to spare.

Soumya played one of the best ODI innings from Bangladesh, his career best and Bangladesh's second highest individual knock in this format. 
Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl first. Coming out to bowl, they had a great start as they reduced Bangladesh for 44-3 after 10 overs. But Soumya had some handy partnerships with Mushfiqur and Mehedi Hasan Miraz which kept Bangladesh in the track. But once the duo departed New Zealand were in the driver's seat of the match.

And then he played one of the best knocks of Bangladesh Cricket history to become the highest individual scorer in New Zealand in one dayers. And overall, second highest in the history of Bangladesh ODI Cricket after Litton's 176 against Zimbabwe in 2020. Soumya played a swashbuckling knock of 169 off only 151 with a jaw dropping strike rate of 111.92. And with the help of Soumya's heroics Bangladesh posted a competitive 291 on the board.

In reply, New Zealand started off to a flier. Courtesy, the world cup hero Rachin Ravindra and Will Young. Rachin made a quick-fire cameo of 45 off only 33 deliveries. While the other missed his hundred only 11 shy, scored 89 from 94 deliveries to set a platform for the middle order.

Henry Nicholls then went for making a fantastic 95 off 99 balls, while skipper Latham contributed with his 34 and wk - batter Tom Blundell scoring 24 helped New Zealand win the match, as well as the series with one game to spare.
