Sohail Tanvir appoints as head of Junior Selection Committee

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Pakistan pace bowler Sohail Tanvir as the head of the junior selection committee, it was announced on Friday.
On Friday, November 17, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the appointment of former Pakistan player Sohail Tanvir as the head of the youth selection committee.
Former Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir has been appointed as the head of the junior selection committee by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Notably, the left-arm seamer made his international debut in a T20I against India in 2007 and went on to play two Tests, 62 ODIs and 57 T20Is for his country, picking 130 wickets across all formats. He was also part of Pakistan's 2009 T20 World Cup winning team.
Tanvir's first task as chairman of the youth selection committee will be to select the Pakistan U19 squad for the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2023, scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates from December 8 to 17. The Pakistan U19 team will later take part in the ICC U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka from January 13 to February 4.
In an official statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Sohail Tanvir said that it was a great honor for him to be given the opportunity to become the head of the youth selection committee. He stated:
“I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity offered to me by the Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, Mr. Zaka Ashraf, to serve as the Head of the Junior Selection Committee. Being appointed Chair of this Committee is a great responsibility and I look forward to this exciting challenge.
“I believe in the potential of our young talents and together we want to create a path to success from the grassroots to the international level. Our first task will be to select the U19 squad for the upcoming ACC U19 Asia Cup as we prepare to build a strong team to compete in the ICC U19 World Cup later next year.”
On the other hand, the PCB also appointed former fast bowler Wahab Riaz as the new chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team.
Wahab Riaz, who recently ended his international career, has been tasked with selecting the Pakistan team for the upcoming Test series against Australia.
