Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was fined 1.2 million Indian rupees after his side had a sluggish over-rate when they faced off against Delhi Capitals on Saturday evening at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Shubman Gill, like six other IPL 2025 captains, was fined for slow over-rate. As the GT vs. DC match concluded beyond the time allowed, Shubman was penalized 1.2 million Indian rupees under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The Gujarat Titans batted first in the blistering heat of Ahmedabad. Temperatures of up to 41 degrees Celsius made cramps and dehydration the order of the day. Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill was fined when his team committed a slow overrate in Match 35 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. "Since this was his team's first infraction this season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which is about minimum overrate offenses, Gill was fined 1.2 million Indian rupees," the IPL stated in a press release.
The win took GT to the top of the points table with five victories from seven games, tied with DC on ten points but one run better on net run rate. The match constituted halfway through the league stage, with all ten teams having completed seven matches each.
