'Shakib's retinal problem is affecting his eyesight'

Shakib Al Hasan had an eye problem during the last ODI World Cup. At that time, Shakib played in the World Cup with problems. Shakib also went to London after seeing some ophthalmologists for retinal problems. Later, after returning to the country and starting to play BPL, Shakib went to Singapore again for treatment as the problem increased.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) senior doctor Debashis Chowdhury said, "Shakib has a subtle problem in his left eye. After consultation with ophthalmologists in Bangladesh and abroad and after multiple eye tests, it was confirmed that he has extrafoveal central serous chorioretinopathy (CSR) in his left eye.”
A precautionary approach will be taken to manage the issue for now. "Extrafoveal central serous chorioretinopathy (CSR) is a condition that affects the retina causing visual disturbances. The medical team overseeing Shakib's treatment is hopeful of managing the condition effectively with vigilance,” he added.
"BCB cricket has requested supporters and fans to respect Shakib's privacy as he focuses on his health and returns to the field. Further updates on his condition will be provided in due course."
