Shakib made the announcement upon his return from the United States that he will be participating in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) instead of the first part of the Zimbabwe series. Shakib smashed a century in today's DPL match. In a mere 73 balls, he achieved the century mark.

Shakib represented Sheikh Jamal in a match against the Gazi Group Cricketers at the fourth BKSP ground in Savar. Sheikh Jamal initially suffered wicket losses. Shakib came to the crease subsequent to captain Nurul Hasan Sohan's dismissal at the team’s 63 runs. Shakib immediately started attacking. Two fours and a six were among his scores in the twenty-first over.

Shakib scored runs quickly and hit half-century from just 43 balls. After that, Shakib attacked the bowlers more. He kept hitting one boundary after another. In the 39th over of the innings, Shakib scored his first century in domestic cricket off just 73 balls. 

This century marked the end of a century-long dearth for Shakib. After 1781 days, this hero achieved a century in List 'A' cricket. His last century occurred during the 2019 ODI World Cup match against the West Indies. Shakib led Bangladesh to victory in that match with an outstanding innings of 124 runs. Shakib has amassed nine centuries in his international career, but this is his inaugural century in the domestic cricket.

After the hundred, Shakib couldn't go very far. In the 42nd over of the game, the best all-rounder in the world was out. Right before that, Shakib had a great innings. He scored 107 runs off of 79 balls, hitting nine fours and seven sixes.
