Shakib Al Hasan writes a new world record in the second ODI against Afghanistan on July 8 (Saturday). Shakib reached the milestone of 400 wickets at home by dismissing Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the match. Shakib is the first left-handed bowler to achieve this feat.

Afghanistan thumped Bangladesh by 142 runs to secure the series by 2-0 with 1 match to spare. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran were stars with the bat while Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi were the stars with the ball which helped them win the series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.

Two Afghan openers Gurbaz and Ibrahim made 256 runs in the opening pair. Shakib dismissed Gurbaz and broke the pair and gave Bangladesh a breakthrough in the match. And by taking this wicket, Shakib took his 400th wicket at home. Shakib made this feat as the first left-handed bowler in cricket history.

Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan is the bowler who has taken the most wickets at home. He is on top with 647 wickets. Shakib is ninth with 400 wickets. All eight above Shakib are right-handed bowlers. Among the left-handed bowlers, Lankan spinner Rangana Herath is in second with 323 wickets. Herath is also currently working as Bangladesh's spin bowling coach.
