Multan Sultans all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been ruled out of the remainder of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 with a back injury. Shahid Afridi ruled out of PSL

The 41-year-old injured his lower back while training with tournament knocking the doors. Afridi is disappointed to miss out for the rest of the games and wishes his franchise to go on and win the trophy.

"While training for the remainder of the HBL Pakistan Super League 6, I felt lower back pain and had to consult a doctor. Unfortunately I have been advised to rest and can no longer accompany my team Multan Sultans for the Abu Dhabi-leg," Afridi said.

"I am disappointed that I would be sitting out of the tournament, but my best wishes, support and prayers are with the team to take the trophy."

Afridi took 2 wickets and made only 3 runs (in two innings) in four matches of PSL 2021 held in Karachi. Left-arm spinner Asif Afridi replaces him for the remaining games. The action will resume in June with the tournament being shifted to Abu Dhabi due to COVID-related concern. Multan have won only one game out of five and are placed fifth on the points table. With several initially signed overseas players set to miss the second leg of PSL, Multan have roped in likes of Johnson Charles and Shimron Hetmyer as overseas players.
