For the first time in the history of Pakistan cricket, Mohammad Rizwan will enter the field as a concussion replacement cricketer. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) doctor said that Sarfaraz Ahmed will not be available for the rest of the match.

Sarfaraz was hit on the head by the ball early in the last session of the third day of the second Test against Sri Lanka on Wednesday (July 26). After taking the new ball, Asitha Fernando's bouncer hit the helmet of Sarfaraz and it went for four as a leg bye. Later, he batted five more overs.

Sarfaraz hit a four off Fernando in the 83rd over. He hit the next four in the last ball of the 86th over. As soon as the over ended, Sarafraz signaled Pakistan's physio to enter the field.

Sarfaraz was seen leaving the field on the advice of the physio. As a result, he was retired hurt after scoring 14 runs off 22 balls. Sarfaraz will not be able to play in the rest of the match, it is known at the end of the 99th over. Pakistan team management informed that Rizwan will replace Sarfraz on the field.

As Sarfaraz was the keeper, Rizwan will be the wicketkeeper for the rest of the match. Pakistan are currently in a good position in this test. Pakistan have already taken the lead by 397 runs in the first innings.

In response to Sri Lanka's 166 runs in the first innings, Pakistan finished the third day on 563/5. Abdullah Shafiq scored a double-century. He was dismissed by Prabath Jayasuriya for 201 runs. After his departure, Sarfaraz's replacement Rizwan came to the crease and was unbeaten on 37 runs at the end of the day. Agha Salman also remained unbeaten on 132 runs.
