The inaugural edition of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup was first held in 1975 and since then as many as 12 editions have been played. In all these editions, several marquee players made a name for themselves by performing exceedingly well.

Let's take a glimpse at the four players who registered the highest score while also taking a fifer in a World Cup match.

1. Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of the sport. He has been serving as an all-rounder of the Bangladesh cricket team for more than a decade and has often delivered the goods when it mattered the most for the team.

It is not that easy to take a five-wicket haul and score a fifty in the same game but Bangladesh's linchpin made it look so. The experienced campaigner registered 51 against the Afghanistan cricket team in the 2019 ODI World Cup, which is the highest by a cricketer while taking a fifer in a World Cup match.

2. Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh was one of the important pillars in the history of Indian cricket. He was named the Player of the Tournament for firing all the cylinders in the ICC ODI World Cup 2011.

He scored 362 runs and also accounted for 15 dismissals in the tournament. Notably, Yuvraj Singh comes second on the list as he registered 50 against Ireland in the 2011 World Cup and also took a fifer in the same match. 

3. Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev changed the entire complexion of Indian cricket when he steered India to historic ODI World Cup glory against the mighty West Indies in 1983. He comes third on the list as he scored 40 runs against Australia in the 1983 World Cup and also took a fifer in the same match.

4. Mitchell Santner

New Zealand international Mitchell Santner joined the ODI World Cup elite list by scoring 36 runs and also took a five-wicket haul during the World Cup match against the Netherlands in the 2023 edition of the World Cup.
