Former India pacer S.S. Sreesanth picked his Indian squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2024. Shubman Gill was a popular name who was not part of S.S. Sreesanth's squad. Sreesanth has also included Rishabh Pant in his squad.

Former India pacer S Sreesanth has given an early prediction for the Indian squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. His squad consisted of almost all the players from the 2023 ODI World Cup team, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in West Indies and USA in June next year. It is the next ICC tournament that will delight cricket fans across the world.

Former India pacer S Sreesanth announced his provisional Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Sreesanth picked most of the players in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

However, he dropped Shubman Gill and appointed Yashasvi Jaiswal. He also included Rishabh Pant in the squad. Sreesanth also feels that Rohit Sharma should be the captain of the team as he has won many IPL trophies.

“Will Rohit Sharma play or not is a big question. He will be captain because he won all these IPLs. Depending on the situation and environment, either Rohit Sharma or Hardik Pandya will be the captain.”

“If Rishabh Pant is fit, he should be there as the third wicketkeeper as he might need some time to get back into the squad. We need a match winner, not someone who just stays there. We need a player who is ready to play and win games. This is as of now. Depending on his form, he could be the second or first wicketkeeper,” Sreesanth said.

Pant has been away from the team since December 2022 when he suffered a horrific car accident. He is expected to return for IPL 2024.

The former fast bowler also felt that the selectors would find it quite difficult to pick a squad this year due to the talent on show in domestic competitions.

“In this year’s IPL, I think we will see more young players. It will be a very difficult decision for them to select the T20 squad. There are players so young you won't believe them. They are so talented,” Sreesanth said.

He also named Kerala's Vishnu Vinod and Punjab's Prabhsimran Singh and Siddharth Kaul as those to watch out for in the upcoming IPL auction.
