Team India captain Rohit Sharma showcased his humorous side during his speech at the felicitation ceremony hosted at Maharashtra Vidhan Bhawan in Mumbai on Thursday. Rohit, accompanied by his teammates Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and all-rounder Shivam Dubey, was honoured at this inaugural felicitation function for cricketers held in the state legislature complex in south Mumbai.

The ceremony highlighted crucial moments from India's recent cricket victories, such as Suryakumar Yadav's amazing return catch, which ended South Africa's hopes in a gripping game.

With 16 runs needed from the last over, Hardik Pandya bowled a full toss on the first ball of the over, which SA David Miller smashed hard down the ground. Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, was alert and skilled enough to make a critical relay catch, which helped India win the game. Despite a boundary from South Africa on the next ball, the challenge proved too difficult for Proteas, securing India's triumph.

During his speech, Rohit Sharma entertained the audience with a humorous remark in Marathi. Reflecting on Suryakumar Yadav's amazing catch, Rohit said "After Surya caught the ball, he told me that the ball sat in his hand. Thank goodness, it sat in his hand. Otherwise, I would have sat him out" 

In a celebratory move, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a cash reward of Rs 11 crore for the Indian cricket team following their victory in the T20 World Cup. The announcement was made on Friday, with CM Shinde expressing his immense delight over the team's triumph, particularly highlighting their victory against arch-rivals Pakistan.
