Rajasthan Royals batsman Riyan Parag recently shared his joy of making his India debut alongside Abhishek Sharma during the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. The Men in Blue showcased a dominant performance, clinching the series 4-1 after losing the first game of the series.
India posted a total of 162/7 in their 20 overs. Riyan Parag contributed with a valuable 22 runs, forming a crucial 65-run partnership with his Rajasthan Royals captain, Sanju Samson. Samson's impressive innings saw him scoring his second T20I fifty, guiding India to a competitive total. The Indian bowlers then displayed exceptional skill, dismissing Zimbabwe for 125 runs, securing a comprehensive victory.
Riyan Parag reflected on the special moment he shared with Abhishek Sharma as they both debuted for India. "We opened our jerseys together. I went to his room, he opened it first and then I did. We played the 2018 WC together and next 6 years we did not play. Doing it with him was pretty special," Parag revealed in a post-match interview.
Furthermore, Parag appreciated the team's overall performance and the friendship among its members. "After the 1st game everyone woke up and we were clinical after that. Really proud of the boys and enjoyed it to the max. It has been fun, we have played age group together, under 16. He (Gill) has been like a captain even when he was not captain. In the field he has been exceptional," Parag added.
