The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is just around the corner, slated for November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With 574 players shortlisted, including 366 Indian and 208 overseas players, cricket fans are eager to see who will join the prestigious league.

However, one name that’s missing from the finalized list has left many surprised England National Team Player Jofra Archer.
Archer, the prominent English pacer, has previously represented Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI), delivering impactful performances in the IPL. Across 40 games, he took 48 wickets with a best of 3/15. Given that Archer has regained full fitness after a long injury spell, his absence from the auction list was unexpected.
According to reports from Cricbuzz, Archer himself made the decision to opt out of the IPL 2025 auction. His focus is now on regaining his place in England's Test squad after recently returning to white-ball cricket. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also prefers Archer to be fully fit for next summer’s Test matches, especially with a five-match Test series against India on the card.
With the IPL mega auction featuring 204 available spots across 10 teams, including 70 for overseas players, Archer’s decision to focus on his Test career leaves a significant gap for teams that may have wanted to secure his services.
