Ben Stokes, the captain of the England Test team, will be set to make his long-awaited return to The Hundred, the most prestigious limited-overs tournament in the country, after a three-year absence from the competition. Under the direction of Andrew Flintoff, who is taking on his first full-time head coaching role, Stokes will be playing for the Northern Superchargers, which are based in Leeds.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has made Stokes available for the last four matches of the league stage and the knockout stages, should the Superchargers qualify. After three years, this is the first time Ben Stokes has been in The Hundred. He played in two games for the Northern Superchargers in 2021, which was his last season with the team. Stokes has focused on the longest form of the game since becoming England's Test captain.

Stokes had opted out of The Hundred to concentrate on Test cricket and manage his physical fitness, particularly to address a chronic knee injury. However, now bowling without pain, Stokes is ready to feature in this year's tournament.

Andrew Flintoff expressed his excitement about coaching the Superchargers and having Stokes in the team. "My time with the England Men's team has been a reminder of just how special cricket is to me, and I'm relishing the opportunity to be back amongst it, helping to guide the Superchargers team to success on the field while making memories off it and helping to take cricket to more people," Flintoff said following his appointment.
