Rangpur Riders have unveiled a special jersey ahead of the upcoming Global Super League, honoring the spirit of Bangladesh’s revolution in July through a unique design. This practice jersey, unlike their regular kit, features the bold red and green of the national flag, commemorating the July uprising through vivid imprints and historical reflections.
Rangpur Riders, gearing up for the tournament, have former national team captain Mohammad Ashraful as their new batting coach. In his role, Ashraful is mentoring key players like Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Arafat Sunny. The team has been handed a spot in the Global Super League after other Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchises like Fortune Barishal and Comilla Victorians declined the opportunity, opening the path for the third-place Riders to participate.
Nurul Hasan Sohan will lead the team, with key players like all-rounder Mahedi Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin, who recently impressed in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament. The squad will include nine Bangladeshi players alongside five foreign additions, forming a well-rounded lineup.
New domestic additions from the BPL draft include Soumya Sarkar and Saif Hassan, along with national talents such as leg-spinning all-rounder Rishad Hossain and left-handed batter Afif Hossain. The Riders also bring in experienced left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny and pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi.
For their international lineup, Rangpur Riders have signed five overseas players. West Indies all-rounder Matthew Forde, England’s Wayne Madsen and pacer Zak Chappell will be joining, along with left-handed spinning batter Harmeet Singh and his American teammate Steven Taylor.
