Quetta Gladiators clinched a place in the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) through a stunning one-run win over Peshawar Zalmi in the first play-off at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. [caption id="attachment_68355" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Peshawar Zalmi skipper Darren Sammy won the toss.[/caption] Ahmad Shehzad’s magnificent innings in the first play off helped Quetta Gladiators set a huge target of 201 against Peshawar Zalmi at Sharjah. Quetta defended the total and clinched win on the last ball of the last over. Ahmed Shehzad was declared man of the match as Quetta qualified in the final for the second time. While chasing, Peshawar Zalmi batted well right through the 19th over with responsible knocks from Hafeez and Dawid Malan. Muhammad Hafeez and Dawid Malan struck a 139-run partnership after Zalmi lost Kamran Akmal and Marlon Samuels while chasing the target of 201 runs. Hafeez made 77 runs off 47 balls while Malan managed 56 off 30.

But it all collapsed in the last over of the match. Left arm spinner, Muhammad Nawaz was the bowler. On his first ball, Captain Sammy failed to score a run. During the second ball, Sammy dispatched it for a four and in the third ball, Sammy took a single. The match turned in the next ball as Chris Jordon got caught behind. Wahab Riaz was run out while trying a foolish run during the second last ball. It was a major blow for Peshawar, Hasan Ali failed to score any run and got run out in the last ball with only two runs required to win. Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi skipper Darren Sammy won the toss and chose to bowl first against Quetta Gladiators in the first Qualifying Final (playoff) of the Pakistan Super League being played at Sharjah Cricket Ground in UAE on Tuesday. Quetta Gladiators scored 200 for 7 in 20 overs in the first playoff.  A second wicket partnership between skipper Ahmed Shehzad and Kevin Pietersen took Gladiators to 200. The pair added quick-fire 90 runs as the Zalmi bowlers seemed helpless against the six-hitting spree of the duo.
