Australia captain Pat Cummins wins the ICC Player of the Month award for December. Cummins won this award after beating the other two competitors Glenn Phillips of New Zealand and Taijul Islam of Bangladesh.

Cummins was named as the Cricketer of the Month by the ICC through a press release. Previously shortlisted were Phillips, Taijul and Cummins. Among these three cricketers, Cummins was chosen as the best by the highest body of cricket.

The year 2023 has been like a dream for Cummins and his team Australia. Apart from winning the ODI World Cup for the sixth time, Australia also won the ICC World Test Championship title for the first time. A new feather added to that success by defeating Pakistan in the Test series towards the end of the year.

Australia beat Pakistan 3-0 in the three-match Test series. Cummins was instrumental in Australia's victory in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Cummins took 10 wickets in the match. In the second innings, he took 5 wickets at the cost of 48 runs, which included the important wicket of Mohammad Rizwan, who settled on the wicket. Cummins got his 250th wicket in Test cricket by sending back Rizwan. He also brought the team a great victory.

After securing the series win in the Boxing Day Test, Australia whitewashed Pakistan 3-0 in Sydney.

India's Deepti Sharma won the December Cricketer of the Month award in the women's category. She won this title for the first time.
