Pakistan secured a stunning 142-run victory in the inaugural One Day International (ODI) against Afghanistan on Tuesday in Hambantota, Sri Lanka. The victory was largely due to the outstanding performance of Pakistan's pacesetters, including Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.

In the first ODI, Haris Rauf's exceptional performance led Pakistan to a 142-run victory over Afghanistan in Hambantota, Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Afghanistan struggled in pursuit of a 202-run goal and was knocked out of bowling for just 59 runs in 19.2 overs.

Afghanistan's low was the second-lowest in ODIs and gave Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the series. This was Haris Rauf's first five-wicket win for Pakistan, with a record of 5-18 in 6.2 overs.

In the batting innings, spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman played a role in keeping Pakistan to a total of 201 all-outs. He took the wicket from Azam, the ODI top-scoring batsman, and finished 3-33. Nabi and Rashid each claimed 2 wickets.

Imam-ul-Haq was the main contributor for Pakistan on a sluggish pitch with 61 players along with Shadab Khan (39) and Iftikhar Ahmed (30).

Pakistan went for the shot after winning the throw and lost opener Fakhar Zaman early on while Rahman sent off Azam and Mohammad Rizwan (21) on his first play. Haq joined with Ahmed for a 50-run stand for the fifth wicket, adding another 40 runs with Shadab.

Haq's 17th half-century ODI was carefully designed, containing only two borders and encompassing 94 balls. Shadab's partnership with Naseem (18 not eliminated) for the ninth wicket proved crucial even if he was eventually eliminated.
