Bangladesh could have gone to the semi-finals if they had won against Pakistan in 38.1 overs. However, the semi-finals are far away, the Tigers could not win due to batting failure. The 2020 champions exited the World Cup after losing to Pakistan by 5 runs.

To go to the semi-finals, Bangladesh not only had to defeat Pakistan but also had to leave them behind in run rate. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to field first with such a difficult equation in front of them. Although many were surprised by that decision, Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby's team quickly gained control of the match. Pakistan lost 6 wickets inside 89 runs.  

After that, Arafat Minhas and Ali Asfand took advantage of Bangladesh's miss fielding and catch miss. Arafat scored 34 runs and Ali scored 19 runs. After this pair, Pakistan could not stand up. Finally, the team's innings ended at 155 runs in 40.4 overs. For Bangladesh, Rohanat Doullah Borson and Sheikh Parvez Jibon both took 4 wickets each.

However, the beginning of Bangladesh did not go well in the chase. Ashiqur Rahman Shibli, Jishan Alam and Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan left the team under pressure. After losing 6 wickets for 83 runs, Shihab James and captain Rabby took the lead of the team. However, Shihab departed after scoring 26 runs at the team’s 123 runs, Bangladesh lost the momentum again. In the end, Rabby's team left the field with a loss as they were all out for 150 runs in 35.5 overs. Ubaid Shah took 5 wickets for Pakistan.
