In a thrilling encounter at the P Sara Oval, Colombo, Pakistan A defeated Sri Lanka A by 60 runs in the first semi-final of the 2023 ACC Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The match witnessed some exceptional performances and intense cricket action. Pakistan A won the toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a solid start thanks to the brilliant partnership between Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan.
Opting to bat first, the men in green showed commendable determination and skill by hitting an impressive 322 total runs in their allotted 50 overs.
Omair Yousuf stood out as a star, wowing the crowd with brilliant innings of 88 runs peppered with 10 limits and a whopping six.
Skipper Mohammad Haris also contributed significantly to the overall result and showed his skills with a fast 52 runs and only 43 balls, including five borders.
Mubasir Khan complemented the batting effort with a valuable 42 runs on 45 balls, smashing two fours and as many sixes to help the team put up 322 runs on the board.
However, the hero of the day for Pakistan A was undoubtedly the talented bowler Arshad Iqbal, who displayed his exceptional skill by taking five crucial wickets.
Mubasir Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem took two wickets while Amad Butt also came on with a crucial red card.
Despite a brave batting performance from the home side, the goal proved too daunting as they failed to complete the required runs within the allotted 50 overs.
Sahan Arachchige and Avishka Fernando emerged as the Sri Lanka team's top runs scorers, both showing great resilience with identical results of 97 runs.
