Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Administrative Committee Chairman Najam Sethi has told International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Greg Barclay and Chief Executive Geoff Allardice that Green Shirts will not be playing their World Cup matches in the Indian city of Ahmedabad.

According to media reports, the PCB chairman made it clear to the ICC chiefs that Pakistan would prefer not to play in Ahmedabad except for a knockout game like the final.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi, during the recent meeting with ICC Chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice in Pakistan, expressed Men in Green's reluctance to play any of their games except for the final in Ahmedabad.

According to a PCB source, Sethi made it clear to ICC officials that Pakistan would only consider playing in Ahmedabad if the knockout stages, such as the final, were at stake.

The source quoted by the Press Trust of India said that Sethi has asked the ICC to schedule Pakistan's games in Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, subject to the Pakistani government giving permission for the team to play in the tournament scheduled for October and November to travel India .

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants to schedule the match between Pakistan and India at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the PCB has reservations about the venue.

The heads of the ICC traveled to Lahore to meet with Sethi early last week. On their return, they declared Pakistan a peaceful sporting country and expressed satisfaction with the country's ability to host the 2025 Champions Trophy.

In addition, the ICC delegation indicated that it would play a mediating role between the PCB and BCCI while seeking assurances from Pakistan regarding their participation in the forthcoming World Cup, which is due to be held in India in October and November this year.

After India refused to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, Pakistan may not travel to the neighboring country to take part in the 50-over format mega-event. The Asian Cup decision is expected later this month.
