Pakistan name Aqib Javed as their interim white-ball head coach until ICC Champions Trophy 2025
The white-ball coach role became vacant after the resignation of Gary Kirsten. The red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie took the charge and coached the side during the recent tour of Australia and led Pakistan to their maiden ODI series victory in Australia since 2002.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced interim head coach for white-ball formats. They've appointed former Pakistan fast bowler Aqib Javed as the interim head coach until the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Along with being the interim white-ball head coach of Pakistan, Aaqib Javed will also continue to remain a senior member of the men’s National Selection Committee.
“During this tenure, Aqib will continue to serve as a senior member of the men’s National Selection Committee, and will be assigned additional responsibilities following the conclusion of the eight-team tournament,” the PCB said in an official statement.
“Meanwhile, the PCB will initiate the recruitment process for a permanent white-ball head coach, aiming to complete the appointment by the end of the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled from 19 February to 9 March,” the board said in its statement.
Pakistan is scheduled to play three ODI's and three T20I's in Zimbabwe and as many white-ball matches in South Africa. Also Pakistan will host New Zealand and South Africa for an ODI triangular series just prior to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. All these white-ball bilateral series will be under the tenure of Aqib Javed.
