Former cricketer Abdur Rehman, known for his refined left-arm spin, has been appointed as Pakistan's new spin bowling coach. Rehman has gone from being a celebrated player to a key coach in the national team.

Abdur Rehman, a left-arm orthodox spinner, represented Pakistan in all formats and took 140 international wickets between 2006 and 2014. Known for his control and consistency, the bowler from Sialkot announced his retirement from international cricket in 2018. Now celebrating his 45th birthday on March 1, Rehman moves into a key coaching role with the men's team.

Prior to this appointment, Abdur Rehman had already coached the Pakistan women's cricket team, but this is his first stint as a spin bowling coach for a men's team. His expertise and experience are expected to strengthen Pakistan's spin department, especially with important matches coming up.

The national selection committee has announced a 15-member Test squad for the series, which includes three spinners: Nauman Ali, Abrar Ahmed and Sajid Khan. To improve their performance, the PCB has roped in Abdur Rehman as the spin bowling coach.
