The busy schedule of the ODI edition is knocking at the doors of the cricket teams and Pakistan’s schedule is going to start with the ODI series against Afghanistan Then there is Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the team for the next two campaigns (Afghanistan series and Asia Cup).

As usual, the 18-member squad has been announced with Babar Azam as the captain. The squad consists of the regular players of the team. After receiving the responsibility, Inzamam-ul-Haq started the work of the chief selector after announcing this team.

Shan Masood has been left out of Pakistan's squad. Masood's omission is somewhat of a surprise. Because a few months ago he was selected as the vice-captain of the ODI team. And now he has no place in the 18-member team.

On the other hand, Faheem Ashraf has returned to the team. He has been brought back into the squad to address the shortage of pace bowling all-rounders.

Regarding this squad, Inzamam said, "Preference has been given to Faheem Ashraf, since the squad doesn't have another fast-bowling allrounder. If you look at PSL and other tournaments, he was in good form. And we need an allrounder, he is a fast-bowling allrounder, which we need at the World Cup."

Regarding Masood, Inzamam added, "Shan has performed very well on the whole across formats. Unfortunately, his performances in ODIs have gone down. We have a list of 20-21 players, and Shan is part of that. But Saud Shakeel and a couple of other players were impressive recently, so we had to leave out Shan. But he is a part of our plans."

Squad: Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Fakhar Zaman, Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Saud Shakeel, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Tayyab Tahir, Mohammad Haris (wk), Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim.
